SEN Education - the responsibility of the LA or school?

Have had response to a stage 2 complaint. Some complaints have been partially upheld but I have a query regarding part time timetables. Ds was part time for almost a year which the LA knew about and school provided no work for the time he was at home (over 140 school sessions). The LA have stated that the responsibility for meeting the educational needs rests with the school but I feel that it is their duty to supply a full time education for every child. Can anyone clarify this please?

You're right - overall it's the LA's responsibility. Just sending work home wouldn't have been enough anyway, they should have arranged home tuition or something similar.

The new funding thingy might be complicating matters as soon the school will need to fund work outside, but legally it is still the LA's responsibility.
