did your dla reconsideration take longer or shorter than your first decision?

When ds's dla was reconsidered, it took about a week!

chocjunkie · 13/01/2013 15:51

took as long as the application (about 11 weeks iirc)

Rumours · 13/01/2013 17:19

Took just under 4 weeks

can I ask hazeyjane and rumours how long was your first decision?

when we first applied I didn't hear back for a couple of months. We were turned down, and the reasons given really looked as though they hadn't read the form! Ds's lead professional said that often children ds's age(he was 1 at the time) are turned down straight away, if they have no diagnosis.

I phoned and asked for a reconsideration, and ds's paed wrote a letter explaining that ds could not be left alone at night due to the risk of him choking on hs own saliva and his severe refluxing. A week after the letter was sent he was awarded high rate care.

I think it was between 2 and 3 months first time round. I was extremely surprised at how quick the renewal went through Smile
