I posted on the behaviour strand, but I thought it might be more helpful to ask here.

Please forgive my ignorance, but my 2 year old son has been hand flapping - usually when he is denied something/agitated or upset. It's quite noticeable. Does this indicate potential other problems or can NT hand flap at this age? I've got no other concerns about him - perhaps that he's very into affection on his own terms but not always on demand! But that's all.

Thanks and apologies for ignorance, it worries me a bit.

Hand flapping at 2 is pretty normal as far as I know so long as it isnt all the time. If it is only in temper or excitement I wouldnt worry to much.

Finger and hand flapping in front of the eyes can be a red flag for autism but usually only if it is at the expense of other kinds of play.

Thank you

No - it's only ever if he's upset actually, as if he doesn't know how else to express it. Like he's frustrated.
