After some concerns I have been told my Ds (4) has either Aspergers or ADHD though it is leaning more towards Aspergers but I have to wait up to 3 months to find out which he has .
I have read lots on both Aspergers & ADHD , I'm hoping that I can get some parental prospective (sp) on both of them & maybe something I could do to help the process run a little smoother & of course help my Ds while we are awaiting the outcome
Any help would be great thanks

Hi Stop. We are also going through this process with dd2. What are the issues for your ds at the moment? What assessments/appointments have you had?

Handy xxxx

My Ds' main problems are his Anxiety , OCD & Hyperactive & unable to have any change in routine at all .
His referral to Cahms was not accepted due to his age & has seen 2 different specialists & have only had 2 appointments so far as they need to speak to Nursery etc .
He has been referred to a Speech & Language Specialist & that's pretty much all I know until his next appointment in 3 months

I think there is no saying what wil happen next until the specialist has taken into account your ds nursery and their opinion of the issues. This will guide them on to further assessments or diagnosis, or more watching and waiting. They may want SALT input also before moving things along.

It is difficult, all the waiting and not knowing. You have my sympathied, keep posting on here though.

Thanks handy , I'm just glad to have finally been told that he is definitely on the Autistic Spectrum & now its just a matter of figuring out where he is on the scale if that makes sense

My DS has a dual diagnosis of ASD and ADHD and quite common for their to be a dual diagnosis. We first received the diagnosis of ASD and then ADHD afterwards as his impulsive behaviour and hyperactivity was beyond what they would accept!

We had to wait until my son was 5/6 before they diagnosed the ADHD.

Good Luck x
