Hi - met with LEA this week to talk about DD proposed statement (2.9 with DS)

When talking about potential schools, we told them we hadn't decided yet - at the moment we're favouring mainstream, but also considering mainstream with specialist units attached.

The statement officer suggested that they include a 'hybrid' element, I.e. include 2 paragraphs; the 1st talking about what provisions would be needed in a mainstream school (1-1 care, small class sizes, experienced in makaton), whereas the 2nd paragraph would talk about a specialist school.

This sounds like a good idea, and the LEA have assured us that it won't limit access to either type of school - but wondered if anyone had any experience of this? And are there any negatives to this that we need to think of?

TIA

As long as each paragraph specifies which type of setting it relates to and each paragraph would stand up to scrutiny in its own right (ie.contains everything you need for that setting) then I can't see why not.

Tbh I woukd give them a chance and see what the write. You can always say 'no thanks' and change the wording.
