Do you get DLA for yourself and want to claim for caring for your DC who gets DLA? As far as I know, yes you can. Couples have been known to claim Carer's allowance for each other. HTH.

dd has been awarded mcr ( awaiting a second decision) and im hoping to get carers allowance but I have a dla claim for myself going through for scizoaffective disorder and I wasn't sure whether I can be classed as disabled and dds carer IYS WIM.

Yes, I think you can. People who receive DLA can still take jobs, etc, so no reason why they can't be a carer for their DC. In fact, you are the carer for your DD!

I have just been awarded carers despite getting dla (for mental health issues) the only thing it might do is trigger a review of your dla.

You can-t claim carers if you claim ESA though.

Crawling · 13/01/2013 19:16

I think its Employment Support Allowance (bit like Jobseekers). Not 100% though x
