questions for potential new school

Hi all, DS (5, in Y1) has no diagnosis but I'm pretty sure he has Aspergers - we're due to see the paed again later this year. We've been unhappy with his school for various reasons and a place has just come up at another school that we think might work better for him. Obviously, we want to make sure we're making the right decision as it will be an upheaval for him (and will involve a longish journey to get there at first although we'll soon be able to move to nearer the new school).

So, we're going to see the head at new school tomorrow and trying to come up with some questions to ask. Just wondered if anyone could suggest anything that's useful to ask when trying to assess how a school will support ASD/social skills.

Ds's main problems are socialising with others - he usually plays alone, he doesn't have proper friendships, or even proper conversations with his peers. His current school don't see any problems (he is fine academically and doesn't cause trouble), won't help with playground integration, won't listen to us when we suggest what might help (have been accused of trying to "micromanage" the class teacher - because we suggested something that we knew might help).

Any thoughts gratefully received. Also, any tales of school moves that have gone well (or not) would be interesting to hear. Thanks all.
