Ds(9) waking earlier and earlier, like 4.30am!!

Ds1(9) has always been a good sleeper. But has suddenly started waking earlier and earlier. He does have Aspergers and can be a bit obsessive. He has been into Binweevils for a long time.
He used to sleep 7-6. Dh naturally wakes at 6, so this has never been a problem. They went off to the Boxing day sales at 6 am together !!
But its getting earlier and earlier. For some time now. He was waking at 4.30 and going onto Binweevils. He then got banned for typing 'passwords' and other non allowed words. So that is no longer an issue.
But why is he waking so early. He doesn't want to go to bed until 9 or 10 pm over the christmas holidays. he says he is not tired and can not get to sleep. Yet he is waking early. He is not tired during the day. he is no more naughty or miserable than he is normally!!
Is this hormonal? Obsessive? Dh said 'you have to get him to the doctor, love, that aint normal'. My mum suggested GP aswell, saying it was very odd, and only thyroid would do that, but she had never heard of it being thyroid in someone so young, so surely it couldn't be that.

Any ideas.

The first thing you need to do is emove his access to Binweevils. He shouldn't be getting online with no adult about. If you do that first and then see how he progresses and it does not improve, I would think about asking the GP for some Meltonin for him.

DC with As do have sleep disorders and Melatonin is often prescribed to improve things...but 1st....hide or dissconnect the computer at night!

The Binweevils is cancelled anyway. Altogether. Dh said, 'rights thats the end of that. END OF'
Laptop will not be given back at all for atleast a week, maybe 2. And even then, no more binweevils. Definitely at the moment. Period.

But the laptops were always in the lounge, I always had full viewing, on both the ds's laptops. And dh put in parental controls, but as we all know they still need supervision. Which they largely had.
I would wander around, during the day, see him, and tell him that he had been on for an hour now and that was enough, for e.g.
But the creeping down at 5am.... was something different.
But, since the binweevils removal, 4 days ago, he is still getting up at 5am, and just going downstairs and reading.
So I do still have the waking up early problem.

Not got much advice but is there something else on his mind? Is there a change at school or home? Think most of my advice would be the same as a younger child, is he getting enough sunlight, going out at least twice a day? Is he eating enough? Hunger could cause early waking. There is some info here on foods that help you sleep. Is he getting enough exercise? Know this can be difficult at this time of year but would he like swimming?

You might also want to post or get this thread moved to the special needs section. You might get a few more posters and hopefully some with experience of aspergers

Hi, my ds (aged 5, who probably has Aspergers) has just started doing the same in the last few weeks. He's always taken ages to get to sleep but has usually compensated by sleeping fairly late in the morning - have often had to wake him for school. But now he's often getting up between 4 and 5, and often not going back to sleep. This morning it was 5am, he tried to sleep, but ended up going downstairs and reading. The one thing I did wonder (as he's been scratching his bottom quite a bit) was whether he has threadworms, as I know this can make it hard to sleep. I might take him to the GP tomorrow to get that checked out. Sorry not to be of more help.

No sorry, didn't mean to criticise where you were posting, just thought you might get a few posters with more experience on sn.
