She seemed like a nice lady, she is going to go ahead with the recommendation that dd attends either the assessment or speech+language unit to get more intensive help with speech before going to mainstream. She has told me which school it will be so I can go+visit it anytime I want. She didn't know if there wld be an immediate place or if dd will be placed on waiting list (panel meeting at end of jan to discuss this then) and basically if there was a bit of a wait I can either keep dd at her playgroup where she has 1:1 in place (if they agree) or send her to the mainstream primary I have already looked at+they will provide 1:1 support while we wait for a place to come up. Sounds ok so far....maybe a little too ok...?
She also said she had done some assessment on dd this morning+will put the results in report but said she was good with visual things, matching pictures etc+problems seem to lie with speaking+understanding language, which is right.
Hoping won't be a long wait, don't really want to mess dd around by starting her in school first then changing her to the unit but apart from that think its all gone ok, phew!

That sounds very positive. It's so important the EP captures your child's strengths and weaknesses. Sounds like its gone well. Good luck for a smooth transition.
Handy xxxx

Thanks Handy, I was a bit concerned that they would change their mind about an assessment/language unit just as I had gotten used to the idea as I was told by early years senco that they had agreed to this in meeting but they didn't tell me personally in the letter they sent. Just glad they agree she needs more intensive help with her speech+understanding before she's (hopefully) ready to go mainstream with or without support. She also said she would refer us to OT so that was good as well.

oso, that sounds great - really good that she has agreed additional support for your DD. Hope your visit to the school goes well, and well done to miniOso!

You need this recommendation in writing. Then, if it doesn't happen you need to apply for a SA to make it. If you don't get it in writing apply for a SA straight away, quoting the EP.

Thanks marchduck :)
Starlight- she said she is writing the report from today on Thursday so I'm expecting to get my copy by next week, I'm hoping it will include this recommendation she has made in writing on there, if not I will pursue SA thanks :)
