second opinions- the rules?

does anyone know, if you ask for a second opinion, whether you can request a specific consultant??

Can't see why not, if within same trust? But you might be better off requesting referral to tertiary unit (in case the consultants are particularly 'supportive' of one another IYSWIM)?

Yes you can ask.

I have asked for second opinions before - and they are fine with it - but never anyone specific.
Separately, I have asked to be referred to specific Drs.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained
