My mother told Dd3 to belt up this afternoon!!!

Fgs, I have had just about as much as I can take.

Dd2 and 3 had been bickering alot and they do drive me mad but ....

I dont know how she expects to build a relationship wiyh Dd3
if she thinks it is ok to speak to her like that.

If Ispoke to her like that my name would be dirt

TBH, sometimes my dad giving the ds's a short sharp telling off is the best thing.
They are much more likely to listen to Grandad than me.

I suppose it's HOW it is said rather than what is said. I know my Dad will be cuddling them 5 mins later. So as long as its balanced!

I agree Dd3 was being irritating as was Dd2 who is 17 and NT but it was Dd3 who got told to belt up.

I usually say something like please stop or even zip it which I suppose is similar to belt up but ffs she only sees her about once a month for a couple of hours!!

leonie, I think Dd3 can be an oversized version of your Dd2, I have cut the visits down to an absolute minimum. We didnt even eat xmas dinner with them this year and it was so chilled it was lovely.

Dd3 was jumpy today anyway because she knew she was going to miss the first in the new series of her obsessive tv program. Dd2 has been on a mission to wind her up all week.

Roll on sunday when she goes back to resi college and everything can settle back down again.

I suppose it is lucky my mother doesnt listen to my tips about Dd3 because she doesnt ever say her name before she talks to her.
Dd3 probably only heard her name at the end of the sentence.

So I havent had to deal with any flack, just my feelings about it.

That is awful zzzzz

I have a very complicated relationship with my parents.

They divorced when I was 4 and there has been alot of water under the bridge since then.

However I am sure that what I dealt with as a child has made me the parent that I am today so most of the time I get on with my life and let the olds get on with theirs.

When their stuff bubbles over into my kids stuff it gets me down like yesterday.

And

Today Dd3 has skipped and hopped and sung her way around the house all morning with not a care in the world.

So I move on once again....

I did have to laugh though because during a conversation with DM yesterday I briefly mentioned my desire to foster at some point and she said " But foster children come with soo much baggage dont they!"

I laughed and said " Oh, I can do baggage!!!"

She gave me a kind of strange look
