Looking for a private psychiatrist specialising in Asperger's Syndrome

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me with details of a private psychiatrist/psychologist who specialises in diagnosing Asperger's Syndrome in children. London/Greater London locations.

Somehow independant EP recommends DS needs to be assessed for AS; I was surprised by this as DS is a well behaved child both at home and at school.

We are waiting for an appointment through the NHS but from what I've read on here, diagnosing can take a long time. Due to time restraints, he needs to be assessed asap.

Thank you for reading x

Hi no stopping
Tbh most of Dd3's quirks and issues are not behaviour related.

Obviously some of her anxieties can cause stubborn/ridgid behaviour but she rarely does "naughty" things.

In fact she along with many others with ASD/Aspergers is very rule bound and actually hates it when other people break the rules.

I hope you manage to find someone to help you Smile

Thank you Ineedmorepatience, that's exactly it. The lack of 'naughty' behaviour made me think initially how could the EP suggest the possibility of AS. I have always attributed his mannerisms and quirks to his severe dyslexia. EP also suggested an assessment for dyspraxia, low and behold DS had this done recently and he is severely dyspraxic. I shall start reading some of the books that have been mentioned on here about AS.

Thank you HotheadPaisan - I have sent an email to Daphne Keen.

Also contacted NAS.

try these 2 places - pscion in canterbury, dr denise challis in portland street, dr gillian baird and london children practice centre in muswell hill. the individual docs are supposed to be good with HFA - aspergers esp gillian
