Can someone give me advice on SALT assessment please.

DS has some SEN.Has part of on going assessments ,DS was seen for a review by SALT.
I wondered if anybody could help explain the findings/results in layman terms.

Have you tried speaking to or emailing the SALT? DS2 has had lots of assessments and I found the reports too vague (eg age appropriate) but the SALTs have always been happy to provide further information and have even written extra more detailed reports.

How old is your ds? You say this was a review, was there any comparison with an earlier assessment? I would contact the SALT and get him/her to explain them to you.

Thank you both for you replies.
I'm waiting for a call back from SALT,but i'm impatient.
DS is 7.5yrs.He has seen SALT on and off since about 3yrs old.He had speech delay.
This assessment was more about his understanding of language.
The Renfrew Action Picture Test gave a score of 4.5yrs for information in sentences and 4.5yrs for grammer.

When i showed his teacher the letter yesterday she said the it was good.
At the moment i'm trying to get a statement for DS.He was turned down by LA,in october.Since then i have had a meeting with LA SEN and SENCO,and it was recommended the school resubmit with extra evidence.ie. from CAMHS.I get the feeling from the teacher that the school or not happy with this.She keeps saying he is doing well,when all the assessment are saying otherwise.

So i was wondering what others thought of those results?

Well they look significant to me, but the SALT should be able to tell you the significance ie where this fits on the bell curve given that the range of 'normal' is so wide. What was his language age last time he was assessed? Has it progressed? It doesn't take a genius to work out that having the understanding and expressive language of a 4.5 yr old would affect access to the curriculum in Yr3. I would expect there would be various issues including literacy. How's his academic progress?

IME teachers are completely very unfamiliar with the knock on effects of language difficulty. I would go with your gut and press ahead with re-applying. By the time it takes effect your ds will probably have a new teacher.

Flyingunderpants what happened? Did you appeal the refusal to Stat. Ass.? or are you reapplying? What did you apply under his SEN or SALT?

How's his academic progress? They have to look after ALL his needs not just academic and DS has to make "adequate" progress in all areas SEN Cop para 5.42.
