"Finally" we have a dx....

Went to Camhs today and finally we have a clearer idea of dd's dx.
She definitely has Adhd, which is making her behaviour so bad. Thankfully and after lots of soul searching from us dd is starting medication.
She is also definitely on the autistic spectrum (which I always knew but no one agreed with me Angry) but that needs further testing to see exactly where she is on it.

Feel relieved to be honest.

Glad you're feeling relieved Blossom.

Will having an ASD confirmed affect DD's place in the Language Unit?

Good luck with the meds.

xx

Glad you are getting somewhere, hope this is a positive tool for dd x

I'm so pleased for you - if that doesn't sound too strange! It must be such a relief to know what you're dealing with. xxx

Good news then BH? I was shocked to read on the other post about how she's been forced into too much m/s only to be completely withdrawn from it, better out than in though iyswim! With the meds, try to keep a diary for the first couple of weeks, just write down what is happening when you can manage it.

spidermama · 12/04/2006 20:11

Isn't it nice to have your maternal instincts born out? Even if they did take their time over it.

Good for you Blossomhill.

chonky · 12/04/2006 20:11

BH, glad that you're moving forward with the dx, and that someone is listening to you. chonky x

Thanks everyone. I am just so relieved in lots of ways. I am also now totally 100% for her starting meds. She has become so aggressive lately and I know that without the medication things will just get worse.
Any behaviour technique we are trying fails as she just won't co-operate at all.
Fingers crossed that the meds work.
Oh and just want to say well done to dd. She was the most auti and hyper I have ever seen her at Camhs today. They had to sit up and listen!

Blossom....just seen this.
For such a long time you have been in no mans land not knowing for sure what was going on....I have felt for you at times when I have read your posts. You sure have gone round in circles at times. Through out all this, your love for DD has shone through.
Finally you are at a stage where you can move on.
Im so pleased for you.

I'm really pleased that you've finally got that diagnosis.

Blossomhill · 14/04/2006 10:22

Thanks everyone. I just feel so happy and relaxed. Obviously the asd needs to be looked into further but to have the Adhd properly acknowledged has made me realise I am not a bad parent after all!

BH - I know this is something that has really been on your mind ever since I started on MN. It must be a great relief to finally have answers and the recognition that what you have suspected for so long is real. You have never come across as a bad mother Smile.

Blossomhill · 17/04/2006 10:18

Aw thanks HITC :)
