I have read up quite a bit about AIT on this board. Has anyone used these people to deliver the therapy and did you find it beneficial?

Yes, that's where all 3 of mine did it.

It's expensive - but the fact I paid for it 3 times tells you I thought it was worth it.

All 3 of mine improved, and all in different ways.

DS1 (aspergers) almost stopped walking out of class after it. He went from walking out 5 times a day to walking out once a week.

Now I realise the noisy classroom was hurting his ears and stressing him - but I didn't know that before.

DD (severe dyslexia) started to learn to read (in Y3!) after it. Before that she couldn't hear well enough to make sense of phonics - again I had no idea.

And DS2 (dyspraxia) was just better behaved and better able to hear in class afterwards.

I have before and after audiograms for all 3 of them which also show how much their hearing has improved (less distorted) and hypersensitivity has been reduced (or in DDs case gone)

So, yes it's expensive. But if you can afford it SLC are brilliant. Pauline is very knowledgeable and one of the world experts in all this stuff.

Thanks indigo that's reassuring. I have spoken to them and will get on to booking an assessment with them.

Is there any precursor to doing this. I know you have mentioned RRT in the past as a precursor to SI?

No, this is where I started.

After AIT the SLC recommends you do RRT with them. But they recommend you wait a few months first.

Thanks again indigo

Dev - I can also highly recommend slc. DS did ait, the light wave therapy and rrt with them just after he turned 4.

I think your DS will also be a good candidate after the discussion the other week.
