Hi all,

Just a quick message to advertise our Pathological Demand Avoidance Conference to be held in Sunderland. Friday 18th January 2013.

Distinctive clinical, educational and support needs of individuals with Pathological Demand Avoidance syndrome: guidelines for good practice

The session will focus on developing an understanding of developmental pathways and educational management of some of the more complex individuals within the autism spectrum, particularly those who fit the profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance syndrome.

Work that has developed from the Elizabeth Newson Centre and Sutherland House School will be used to give practical examples of strategies to support individuals who don?t always respond to those approaches typically advocated for those on the autism spectrum and who find the demands of school, college and other settings particularly challenging.

Intended for: Parents, Education Professionals from mainstream schools, specialist schools, colleges and local authorities. Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Voluntary sector groups. Professionals who work with people who have Autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.
