I have put in a claim for carers allowance, My earnings were £390 four weekly pay, however listed and also paid was a £17 adjustment from being underpaid the previous month and a £40 tax rebate. This took my four weekly pay to £447. I have been told that I can't get any carers allowance for this period.

i have never been so gutted to get back money owed, Is it worth appealing or is it just tough luck?

I think they can take your earnings for the year now and average them out, have you rang them?

The tax rebate should be "ignored", but that would still leave you over the limit.
I am not sure what the rules are on the "adjustment" rectifying the previous underpayment. I would ring and ask and then take it from there

Do you get paid carers weekly or monthly?
If its weekly they should only stop the carers for the week(s) you were over - but you would have to break down your income for the 4 weeks.
If its monthly then I think you are stuffed.
You can deduct tax, NI and childcare - did you pay any (OFSTED reg) childcare for this period?

I get paid my wages four weekly, but asked for Carers allowance to be paid weekly.

I have spoken with them and as I get paid four weekly I can't get anything for this period even though the money that tipped me over was underpayment from previous month previous to my claim. oh well will just have to reapply next month.

not sure they are right see the DWP advisers guide chapters 15 (earnings) and 30 (carers).
It reads to me that they can only take it one week at a time.
So if the 2 extra payments were taken as paid in 2 different weeks, that would still leave you entitled for the 2 weeks you were under £100

Its up to you if you can be bothered to challenge it sometimes they just back down under challenge.
