Who attends at Annual review?

My Senco has told my ds's SALT that it is not necessary for her to be at the AR and I don't agree and didn't realise that according to the code of practice, she is able to do this. The SALT was prepared to re-arrange so she could go as I want some SALT stuff written into the statement. Think she will listen to the Senco though and not come.
Senco doesn't want too many people there and wants me to talk to her outside the AR. I have never had this experience before, normally everyone has come involved with my child unless they were invited too late or not invited. Is this your experience? What should I do? Should I pick this battle or not?

In my experience people are usually invited but don't come. I would say if you want them there it us your right. I'm a senco

We thought we'd be sat around the table with a whole host of people-it was just me,DH,class teacher and assistant head of the assessment unit DS attends. LA were invited-no show, EP was invited-no show, SALT was invited- we'd just been assigned a new one and she didn't want to attend(even though she was actually in the school when we were there)as she didn't know DS.
So it turned out to be quite a friendly meeting(we were ready to fight,as always:) ) We were able to discuss how upset we were at lack of SALT involvement-they agreed and said we should persue a complaint,which we did and now SALT is much better, we also asked if he could stay another year-not a problem it was a good meeting talking to the people who know and care for DS on a daily basis.

Thankyou ash979, it is helpful hearing it from a Senco's point of view. Senco phoned me today and informed me despite my protests, that the SALT or VI service won't be coming. Both said to me that they were prepared to come and infact happy to come, but clearly my Senco has called them off, despite the fact that there are key 'access to the curriculum' problems that need to be discussed in their domains. Yes it would be easier Rinky for all concerned if the meeting were smaller, with no tricky conversations to be had, but that isn't going to move things in the right direction for my ds with any speed. Also if I want to make changes to the statement that require input from these professionals (which I do) then how can it be done without them being there? Senco says that it's a transition review and that has to be the focus.
