Carers allowance and employment?

I receive carers allowance for ds and when I applied I wasn't working. I've been offered a very part time and likely temporary job over the next couple of months and it will be on a self employed basis.

My earnings will be well below the £100 threshold but do I still need to inform them and how do I go about it given that I will technically be self employed and not always earning the same amount each week?

Who do I need to contact?

I'd phone the dwp carers department and jut let them know but specify that you WIll be earning less than £100 a week and you know this is below the cut of threshold although I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted proof of earnings just to double check x

Thanks piglett will phone Monday, although am not sure how to show proof of earnings on a self employed basis? They will in all likely hood pay me cash or cheque and I will do a self assessment at the end of the tax year.

Anyhow I guess ringing them would be the best thing then I will know where I stand.

Exactly! I'm sure If you made a
Record ( like a receipt you give a customer only keep a second copy) they will be fine with that? They may not even ask for proof. But the government being the government wills not believe anyone who just says they earn under 100 good luck

Indeed piglett! Unfortunately for ease of purpose my hopefully soon to be employers don't want to employ me officially, they just want to give me cash as they don't want the faff, which unfortunately means I have to do all the work and register as self employed.

You will probably need to show them some accounts - nothing complicated, just the sort of thing you will be keeping for your tax purposes anyway
