I have namechanged because my real name is on the petition and I don't want anyone who knows me to be able to track my user name, but I am a regular on these SEN boards.

My petition is about making sure that any money for our children, in the new legislation, that is below the new threshold is actually ring-fenced for our children, at the moment the schools could spend it on the school roof if they wanted to and we would have no power of protest.

please sign it, please send it to everyone you know and ask them to sign it, I really, really want to try and get something in place to protect this money.

Please sign it and keep this bumped, otherwise when the new legislation comes in, unless your child is severe enough for a special schoool, any money allocated to them can be spent by their school in anyway they want, they don't have to spend it on that child at all.

I don't know what else to do about this but really want to feel like I am doing something.

The petition just says:

Ringfenced money for Children with Special educational needs

Responsible department: Department for Education

We want:

Any Money allocated to a child with special educational needs which is below the threshold for the new educational health-care Plan, to be ring-fenced for that specific child. We want the school to have to justify that they have spent it on that specific child.

We want schools to asses for special educational needs to the government standard, not the a specific school standard.

We want there to be a way for parents to apply for this, and a fully accountable and clear appeals process.

Just an observation on spelling, I think asses needs another s at the end.

Just a quick question ... don't they spend money now that should be allocated to one child on other children and things? My DS has a statement and I know that none of the money from this is spent on him. None at all at the moment.
