Meeting the ed phyc - tips?!?

Like what do I say?!? I feel totally out of my depth, he's meeting DS (3yrs 8 months) for the first time. Is there anything important I should be asking? How many times do we see him?

Ed Psych. They will ask you about the birth, what he was like as a baby, did you bond, when did you start noticing things about him and what your concerns are.

It's a good idea to write a list of your general concerns/difficulties - the EP will then assess how they would affect access to learning and what could be done to help.
Ask them to read back to you their notes/impressions at the end to make sure it sounds like your child. Then their report will be more use.

Hello, our second EP (visiting Ds 7, so a lot older than your Dc) asked us our concerns (which was his uncharacteristic behaviour at school and being behind 2 levels) and what we would like to acheive from her visit (may not of been in those exact words) she didn't really ask about birth etc. she did ask us to do a list of sensitivities, the school had already had the autism outreach team in so she probably had a fair bit of information from them anyway plus what the school had told her.

Round about that time our gp had referred Ds to camhs poss ASD (REALLY long story) which the Ep was aware of so maybe thats why I didn't need to tell her much because they liase with each other), her specialist field was actually ASD (not sure if it the same for all EP's) so maybe she didn't really need to know too much. Anyways after the meeting I just emailed her anything I had forgot to mention which she added to her file.

Our Ed psych didn't ask about the birth (and it's probably relevant, as she was actually starved of oxygen and in SCBU for some time afterwards). He asked a lot about when she hit her milestones, so maybe worth making some quick notes so you don't have to flail around. Wanted to know when and what her first meaningful words were, when she said Mummy etc etc (although was mostly there for DD's speech delay, might be different for ASD specific visit).

Thanks ladies - he has autism and this is part of getting his statement recommendation I think? They did say that autism is his 'area' so am hoping this will help and make things easier.
