DLA success :-)

I've been waiting since the end of August for a decision on dd's claim. She has been awarded HRC and HRM this time until 2018. She's nearly 11 and has severe ASD.

I am glad that she's been put onto HRM because this will mean I can get a blue badge for her and will be so much easier to take her into town because there are places that I can park more closely - at the moment we don't go out much.

Anyway, just to post a positive story for people waiting for DLA results - good luck to all.

Well done! That's brilliant. We got ours in March, after I had a lengthy discussion with them about my DS (5). We got a motability car as my ageing car was starting to cost. The Blue Badge has been a huge help.

Thanks SallyBear - I don't know much about the motability schemes - how do they work?

Hi perception that's great am really pleased for you. :)
Have you done a search of the type of car you want on the notability site ? X

Congratulations Smile

You check the motability site for the car you like. You visit the dealers and either trade yours in and or sell it. You pay the deposit payment, produce your DLA letter which states about the HRM (there is a number on the paperwork that they need) they then fill out the paperwork, contact the DLA and take the HCM part from the DLA. You have the car for three years. All you add is fuel. It's basically a lease car, but IMO soooooooo worth it. And go and get your blue badge!!!!

Thanks everyone Smile

The only thing that concerns me is if I trade in my current car, and for some reason the HRM stops (hopefully it won't but you never know...) I will then be left without any car?

The blue badge will be a huge help for dd. She actually likes going out and it will make it much easier to get her out.

I had those same concerns, but then I had to fork out £900 in heater motors. That pretty much made my mind up. I deposit some money in an ISA every month to save up for that eventuality.

Ah I see. Well it looks like a good deal I must say.
