Just to update on my DS2(4) with Suspected PDA. After pushing The local autism panel, we finally had his assessment on Friday. He has Autism 'with traits such as those described as PDA by Elizabeth Newson.'
I was surprised as I'd been expecting a fight or something inconclusive but they said even without the PDA behaviours he is autistic. I guess I'd been clinging to the idea of a fairly NT child trapped by the anxiety.
So I am pleased, as much as you can be, i wanted a label I protect him and they don't come much bigger than that.
Anyway, starting school seems to have had a positive effect on his behaviour. He has a truly brilliant teacher and whether it's a combination of that relationship, his achievements there and self-esteem or what, it all seems to be reducing anxiety. Just wanted to share some positive news.
