Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Is this ok?

My son is at a special needs nursery. He's in a room with five other children on the spectrum. One of the children has been biting (not his fault I know) but when he bites the nursery restrain him in a chair. When I say restrain I mean sit him in a chair with a clip belt type thing like a buggy or high chair. Anyway they sit him in that and strap him in. Is that ok? Should I tell his mum? Am I over reacting to think this shouldn't happen?

I wouldn't be happy if I found out they were doing this to my dd BUT have been known to do it myself when out in street and dd was being dangerous. It could be mum has said this is best but can't see that it's safe, and certainly not in any restraint training I have done.

I agree it does sound a bit questionable, but without all the facts, it's hard to tell.
