This really annoys me

I was on a website, the one where you bid for things IYKWIM and i typed in Autism and various things come up but this one thing keeps coming up "How i cured my childs autism" ?

How can this be?

Is this a gimick or someone perhaps misguided, how can you "cure" autism, i have autism i have had it all my life i dont want to be cured thank you very much and neither i suspect do other people.

Sorry to rant!!!

I don't know if my ds has autism or what. If I was offered a magic cure it would be very hard to give it to him. He is who he is, and I love him for that. If he didn't have his behavioral traits he wouldn't be ds. So I knwo what you meam, but on the other hand you work as hard as possible trying to help them fit in with the real world, so it is as if you are trying to cure them anyway.

Some parents will go to extremes - have you heard about the pills made from the childs own faeces? Now that was sick! i think a lot of the stuff coming up is to do with diets, but I don't see how that can really 'cure' soemthing so deep rooted.

Clearly a money making scheme. I do believe there are some thigs you can help your child with tho, but def not a cure!

thats story is sad, the mother sounds in desperation but at the end she says her son is happy.

I still dont "get" the autism cure that people talk about though, DS autism is a part of him its what makes him the way he is and i wouldnt change him for the world, to remove the autism you remove his personality and i love his personality.
Thats only my opinion though, i daresay others will disagree.
