iPad protective cover - any suggestions?

DD loves her iPad, and I had bought the Griffin Survivor cover for it. Unfortunately the screen has now cracked badly. I will get it repaired, but I'm going to have to get a new cover I think. The blurb on Amazon said the Griffin case had withstood US military conditions in testing, but I guess it hadn't encountered DD... I would be very appreciative if anyone has a recommendation for a durable protective case?

unsure about durability but DS dropped his ipad onto tiled floor with an imonster cover on and it bounced back literally, another 2 feet or so off the floor lol

Hi, we have a otterbox cover and find it really good, several falls but not a scratch!! You could also contact cerebra as they make specialised equipment like iPad covers etc

Another vote for otterbox DS has thrown his ipad many many times with force and not a scratch. Its heavy to carry around but worth it

I was coming on to say Otterbox too. Dd1 has had her iPad for a few years now, and there is not a scratch on it thanks to the Otterbox case. She takes it into school each day, and it gets chucked around a bit as she casually tosses her bag aside in pre-teen manner .

The other one that always gets good reviews is the iGuy case, which is like the I imonster one deviant linked to. My niece has been using an iPad with an iGuy case since she was just over a year old, and it is all in working order still!

i have the otterbox and the griffin - my kids prefer the otterbox because ofthe hardened front cover which is also a stand

Otterbox has so far lasted longer than the Griffin (it was all of three weeks before DS destroyed it) and the iGuy (which looks great and is fun, and is still in existence unlike the Griffin, but when chewed allows spit to get into the headphones jack and so the sound goes off!).

Otterbox is very robust and has survived several months of a hard life so far. The only thing (once again because we have a chewer!) is that we have to take it apart every week or so to clean the spit out, especially from behind the screen protector, as that stops the touchscreen from working!

have griffin adn emailed griffin when screen cracked for my ds- they sent me their redeisgned case for free. tho i find it lets drool in the sides now under the screen cover (not always like the gumdrop or otterbox, but sometimes)

i think t does depend how the ipad falls eg onto a corner then it wont matter wchih case you have the screen could crack.

if you go to apple store they will charge you 199 for new screen but give you whole new ipad so back up first... but if you mention the Sn etc you might get lucky as they took off the VAT for me

Thank you all very much for the replies, this is so helpful. I'll hopefully get it repaired next week. DD has asked for it a couple of times today. Wish I could say that she missed it for the educational apps, but I think she really just misses watching her favourite programme on it!

cest, how do I got about getting a screen replaced for 199? I phoned and they said they'd sell me a refurbished ipad for half the cost of a new one.

star I had an Ipad2 replaced with a like for like refurbished model for £165 back in May when the screen was cracked. As they don't do repairs , I got it replaced at Apple Store in Bluewater. I just had to make sure everything was backed up first.

Oh, they initially quoted me £199 or more on the phone I can't exactly remember but they actually just charged me £165. I checked the receipt and there is no VAT listed on it.

Just wondered, for children who have poor fine motor skills is the screen still responsive enough with the cover on?

used2, we have the griffin case currently and dd3 uses it with no problems with the screen protector, it does need to be kept clean as muck on the screen does make it less responsive.

Thanks thats good to know. Still umming and ahhing over whether to get the griffin or otterbox or to get the more affordable iguy or imonster but it probably is worth getting the more heavy duty ones I think especially if they don't affect use.

the otterbox screen protector is one for when it's not in use, it's a solid one that doubles as a stand when you are using it. The griffin one is a clear one that sits against the screen that is on it all the time, it also stops any dribble getting through the case which the otterbox doesn't, if that's an issue. You can buy stick on screen protectors quite cheaply on amazon if you wanted to.
