Ok, brief outline, school had suspicions that ds had dyslexia but didn't tell us until a year later that they had these suspicions, and by this time decided there was no case (senco in school decided this)
ds does very well witrh work apart from spellings and such. Got the best SATS results at 9 in the class, other than the spelling areas. Anyway, following a mild issue with lazy speech, dyslexia test was taken and ds had really poor scores in two sections, otherwise brilliant marks, pointiong to auditory memory issues
The speech therapist has got in contact with school to advise them of this and start working with the school.
We want to complaint that the school faile dto spot this (ds confidence badly shaken, as school never shared thoiughts we assumed ds was being lazy with spelling and pushed him to try harder when this wasn't the right thing to do)
All contact with school re this has been prompted by us, school haven't got in touch rto arrange meetings or check how ds going
We've asked for a copy if the special needs statement but told we can't have it and we have to see the head????
What shoudl we do? Pleaee can you give me any thing to raise in the complaint, what I can ask for, how to progress it, what the school should be doing etc?
As ds isn't statemented we feel he's going to be just dealt npt very well, and the school has a reputatoin of pushing fpor results above all else...
