Was watching the new series ( for us here in Aus) of WIlliam and Mary - you know undertaker married midwife etc... and the first one in the new series featured a young man with ds - made dh and I feel fab - he played an amazing part very well.... but we were a little saddened - the basic plot - his elderly mother dies, character ( undertaker) organises funeral etc... young man's two sisters don't want to care for him - even if it just meant he was able to live independantly with them just popping in to check on him, treat him like he is a child and so on - speak about him whilst he is there....

we said to each other we hoped dd2 would not be like that with dd1.

Really positive image of people with ds - very heartening!!

the scottish soap River City has a DS actress in it every so often -her character comes and goes - she has the best one-liners, can really pull them off.

We used to have a series on about a family the oldest child of which had ds. If I remember correctly his name was Chris (character). It was a very positive portrail and showed everyday family life just like other soaps like Cosby etc. Cant remember name of series unfortunatly.
