Pastoral Support Plan - any top tips?

The school's HT wants my ds to have a PSP. He's currently being assessed for ASD and has a 14 hr statement. I have some bad experience from the last school when the area education officer was involved as little support was given. Any advice as to what I can request through the pastoral support plan? I'm suspicious that its an admin exercise to reduce risk of any challenge to exclusion of a SN child.

I have never heard of a pastoral support plan but it sounds like if they follow it it would be a good thing to ensure that your Ds is properly looked after at school.

I would think it would need to include named adults who will be available to support him. Safe places he can go at unstructured times and perhaps even a buddy or something similar.

Sadly if they dont follow it it will just be a paper chase but isnt that the case with anything from IEP's to statements?

My ds was placed on a PSP with a part-time timetable for behavioural difficulties.
Make sure that there is an agreed end date - we were told it would be for no longer than 6 weeks but it went on for almost a year! He didn't meet any of his targets and was sent to a PRU as a 'consequence'. I believe they are used to try to avoid exclusion and so that the school can show that they did everything possible to try to manage challenging behaviour.
