Came home tonight to find the house empty,DS and DH gone. When they came home,it turns out the next door neighbour and next door but one, had come knocking with their children for trick or treat. They know DS is ASD and we don't really have a friendship, but do hello's and general chit chat when we see each other.
Anyhow, they asked DH if mini Rinky would like to go trick or treating with them. Obviously DS has no idea, but was wearing skeleton pj's he'd worn to SS today for their party,so DH said yes. We weren't planning on doing this, so DH grabbed a saucepan and off they went.
They came back wet(raining), mini rinky had a saucepan of sweets and seemed happy. He made them all laugh going round,as when they knocked at doors and the people turned round to get the treats, mini rinky marched into their houses and had to be shooed out. :)
We had children knocking at the door and DS was shouting "Friends, look friends" when children came.
The neighbours asking meant so much, DS had no idea, but it helped us to see, and others to see, he can sort of fit in, if given the chance.
