Teary moments

dd1 goes to the special ed unit on a Thursday morning and then to the mainstream kindy in the afternoon. Today as we got there - she put her hat on and went out to tell her teacher she was there. As she did that - two other little girls got all excited she was there - greeted her enthusiastically and one little girl gave her a big cuddle and then dragged her off to play with her in the sand pit!!

I almost burst into tears... I had been wondering for a couple of weeks if there was anyone that dd1 was showing any inclination towards or if any other children were showing a liking for her iyswim. So lovely to see.

Also read in the day book for the parents - teachers write about the day and what they have all been doing - that they were learning Old McDonald had a farm along with the makaton signs as that is what dd1 uses to communicate. Apparently the other children love signing to the song.

our first birthday party invitation - from another little girl who goes to the Special ed unit and also has down syndrome has invited dd1 to her birthday party.

Awwwwwwwwwww!!

Am looking forward to those teary moments. DS2 has down syndrome, 5 months old at the moment, there is so much ahead of us.
Hope you have a great time at the party.
:)
