Statement hours ?

My ds has a 25 hour statement, last year his teacher had his 1:1 for 4 days a week and he had 2 different supports on Friday. This year he is getting support from his 1:1 4.5 days and Friday afternoon he's on his own in classroom ... His support is in school just allocated to a different child.

Parents evening is tonight - can I insist he has support on the Friday afternoon ? He's struggling in class (Asd/PDA) and is stressed when he comes home

Not really. Is he getting his 25 hours?

If he is getting his 25 hours, then no. If he isn't getting 25 hours then maybe. 25 hours is usually 5 mornings of 3 hours and 5 afternoons of 2 hours. Does he get support at lunchtime at all? If he's not getting 25 hours see what his statement says. If it says 'access to a TA' then that doesn't mean 1:1 exclusively for him, but if there is no TA in the classroom at all for some of his 25 hours, then he's not getting access, so query it. If the statement is better written and the hours are exclusively for him, even more reason to query it. But the school can decide how to allocate the hours. They may prefer to support him at lunchtime for 1/2 hour a day etc.
