Is this ok ?

My son is 4 asd/PDA , at mainstream school. I have a bit of an issue with teachers always discussing my sons behaviour when he is present. Am I being unreasonable or do you feel this is not appropriate, with any child, let alone one who is extreemly anxious andonly just managing to get into school each day? What would you feel?
Advise , of any sort, welcome!

No one should assume that because a child has a disability they therefore can't understand the world around them, even if they don't seem to be tuned into it. Unfortunately there is no peep-hole into the brain and so we don't truly know what anyone has taken in. I know that I've been quite shocked at what ds has picked up from adult conversations. For me I think it's unhelpful, discouraging and disrespectful of our dc. Bottom line if you don't like it then that's enough of a reason to tell the teacher to stop.

Sorry that is really bad practice, unless she is talking to him as well. I do say in front of the child I work with but I include him in the conversation.

Thankyou frizzcat, I had assumed they do this with all the children, possibly that's not the case, which makes it a million times worse. My son is bright and listens to everything that's said about him. It makes me so sad, how on earth can they teach/ nurture vulnerable little children with such an insensitive attitude!
I will feel stronger putting my opinion across in our meeting tomorrow . Thanks for that. :)

I agree orange, and would have no problem if they included him in the conversation. In fact I often have to include him myself , they do not join in though. Thanks .
