Playing Call of Duty at their dad's AIBU?

The main board think I'm crackers but I was shocked to find out this evening that the boys' dad has got C o D, 18 rated, on the playstation for DS1 who was 14 at the time. He is supposed to only play it when DS2 and DS3 have gone to bed, but they were all watching DS1 play it with his friends who were around for a birthday party this weekend. DS2 is just 13 with ASD, DS3 is 10. I am furious. They are too young to be exposed to this sort of stuff. I think ex dickhead is just trying to impress them by being the 'cool, I'll let you do stuff your mum won't' sort of divorced dad that he used to despise.

Or... AIBU and just taking out my personal distaste of these horrible 1st person realistic shooter games and my personal distaste of my exH out on this issue?

I'ld say it's borderline wrt to your 14 year old, and wholly inappropriate for a primary aged kid or your 13 year old given what you have said about his SN on here. So yanbu. There's plenty of decent car racing or football games that would pose no such issues.

My 14 yo has just turned 15, and he's pretty sensible. But I would still prefer he played something else. It's more about the younger 2. I suppose it was a bit of a one off, him playing it with his friends in the day and not in the evening... Still really cross with exH though.

I have these COD games all of them for the ps3 and I enjoy shooting my brother but to be honest these games are locked away from DS or DD during the day and are only played at night if I mind to and the children are snoring their heads off.

I would not under any circumstances allow a child under 18 to watch them not because they are realistic because I dont happen to think so but to a child they are very real also should he play it online the language of some is very choice and I would not like my child to be subject to that.

There is also the concern with the ASD side of things that kids get hooked quickly and love role play games they are literal and explicit enough without the added fact files of COD!

They are 18 for a reason and yanbu at all.

Thanks coff33. I've asked him to guarantee that DS2 and DS3 are in bed before DS1 plays it, but I was a bit cross when I texted him initially and now he's not answering me.
