Tax creds & dla.

Just been awarded mrc & lrm for my son and have notified tax credits.

Can anyone tell me if the tax credits gets backdated to the day the dla form was stamped or just for the month before it was awarded?

Hi there, congratulations for the award .

If you haven't already done so, you need to get in touch with the tax credits office and they will liaise with the dla bods. Tax credits are awarded from the date the dla form was stamped.

You might find however there's quite a delay as I had to chase up the progress of my claim recently, and a recorded message said they were running 8 weeks behind! Having said that, I received a confirmation the very next day after I rung.

I called them yesterday and they said about 2 weeks but I have heard there is a backlog so we'll see. If its backdated til July then at least it'll be a nice lump sum.
