I am soooooo proud of my 6 year old DS!
He is year 2 and struggling at school with all subjects. He is still at the p levels.
He is being assessed for asd, has speech pronunciation problems and I suspect dyslexic but they won't check for a few years yet.
Anyway, I had a lovely long chat with his LSA the other day and we agreed on a word for the week is "the".
Well, as many of you will know, trying to get him to concentrate on anything for long periods of time is really hard so we came up with lots of hands on activities involving "the" and finally we cracked it!!!
He can recognise it, read it, spell it and write it. He doesn't say it phonetically - he says t-h-e, rather than th-e but I don't think phonics works for him. He can't understand that sh together makes a shhhh sound and will say s-h instead.
Just wanted to shout from the ceiling!! Small steps and all that :)
