Badvoc · 21/09/2012 20:05

Hello everyone!
Thought I should start a new thread as we were nearing 1000 posts! :)
Indigo is no longer posting as you all know, but I think it would be such a shame for the support thread to go too.
I know I find reading about all the ups and downs we all experience very helpful and it's so great to hear all the progress :)
So.
We go back to TH next month and can't wait. So interested to see of the tracking programme has worked. I think ds1s reading speed has improved and he is now reading proper chapter books!
He continues to show less anxiety, OCD behaviour and stress.
He is eating better and is generally a much happier chap.
Looking forward to hearing from you all over the next few weeks/months...X

Thank you ladies.
Shopping..yes, that's how I feel. I still worry. But it's normal worries iyswim?
Ds2 is loving staying for lunch at pre school - it's only one day a week sadly but he loves it.
Poor Tom is quite poorly...nasty chest infection. He is being a star taking his AB tablets though :)
Good news;
Mums tests came back clear.
My brother who has been out if work for 2 years starts work next month AND they have just heard that the council had allocated them a house! They are going to view it today. So pleased for them. They are renting a small damp cottage with no garden atm and I am sure its been affecting all their health.
So I am choosing to feel positive today.
Toms parents evening later!!

Badvoc - good luck with the parents evening - let us know how you get on.

Thanks for that shoppingbags - I know exactly what you mean about the knot and I have similar worries about DS only friend being DD. I think I used to feel like this the whole time and now things are starting to improve I find it difficult to cope / a bit of a shock when we have a really bad day. DH tells me that he worries in the same way Hmm but that the waves of panic happen less often now. Not convinced about how much he worries, but think he's being supportive! Great to hear how far you have come in a year.

itwillbebetter · 14/03/2013 11:16

Ruggles - the description of your DS being tired sounds just like me when I'm tired!
My DS2 has far more symptoms than DS1 so whereas DS1 has a bad day and I can brush it aside, when it is DS2 my mind goes into hyperdrive and I watch him like a hawk and analyse every move he makes. I think I am guilty of putting him under a magnifying glass which is not healthy for either of us. I have to accept that it is normal for all children to have bad days and it does not mean he is getting 'worse'. I do know what you mean though and if they have a bad day then it really alters the applecart in the whole household.
Thanks for all the guidance re the dosage, I have started on 4 a day.

We have followed the diet for about a week now and I have found that my Son's are both very tired and quite down. They are walking around like eeyores, under their big black clouds! Grin I'm guessing this is a mixture of sugar and computer withdrawal. Did anyone else notice this when they started?

Badvoc · 14/03/2013 11:28

Could well be sugar/gluten withdrawal. Or it could just be a virus? Lots going on round here ATM...most of which I have managed to catch! :(
Am deeply fed up.
Such a lovey sunny day and I have sat here in my pjs again because I can barely make it up the stairs :(
Ugh.

Hi everyone.
Well, just got back from toms parents evening.
They are very happy with him. I think he may be a teachers pet! :)
Anyway....
He is scoring level 4 or almost level 4s across the board :) in other words, exactly where a child his age should be :)
I just can't believe it.
2 years ago - in year 3 - we were so upset and didnt know what to do to help him - he was making no progress and scoring low level 1s across the board, despite his intelligence and ability. His writing was illegible. He was reading books aimed at year 1 children.
He is actually likely to get a level 4b for maths by the end of year 5 which is a year ahead.
He is happier, more confident and works hard even when he finds things hard.
Am just....so happy.
:)
Please don't give up.
It is worth it.
X

Brilliant news Badvoc! Fab :)

PrinceRogersNelson · 14/03/2013 18:46

Wow! That is amazing. You must be utterly delighted.

Well done to you all. Thanks

Badvoc · 14/03/2013 18:52

We are.
:)
So great he is working to his potential at last.

Oh Badvoc, that is AMAZING! I have tears in my eyes reading about your boy . Well done all of you for your hard work.

Have just heard that ds is off to Venice tomorrow! I am sooo jealous! He spent Tuesday in Verona - eating icecream. Don't tell Robin!

Badvoc · 14/03/2013 19:12

Thank you daft.
I feel a bit tearful myself! It's almost hard to remember how bad things were tbh. He is doing so well.
I am very Envy of your ds! I love Italy! And ice cream. :) I am sure he is having the most amazing time :)

Ruggles · 14/03/2013 19:14

Wonderful news Badvoc! That is so fantastic for you and Tom and all of you really! Its great that he's his teachers pet - it sounds as if he has a real fan there. Are you doing the magic zoo zoo dance around the kitchen? Hope you are feeling well enough for a few glasses of wine too!

We're just back from seeing Robin and had such a good afternoon - just what I needed. I knew he'd be happy with DD as she is coming along so well - so many words, sometimes two words and constant engagement - lots of smiles, laughter and play. The surprise news was how pleased he was with DS progress - the rate of progress is better since last time and he's moved our exercises on: were now doing letter search with Hemi T (?) and can drop the chair if we want to... I am almost giddy with relief. Robin agreed with you Prince, thinks settling at school will take a while and he'll play up until he's settled, but said he had no worries about him progressing through the programme.

Onwards and upwards. xx

Badvoc · 14/03/2013 19:31

Ruggles.... we have both had a very good day :)
Some children dint really settle at school until the summer term..sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear! :)
Tom was certainly like that.
Going back after October half term was really distressing :(
I think by the end if summer start of year 1 he will be much more able to cope.
I wish I felt well enough to dance! I am contenting myself with a smug grin Grin
Your dd seems to coming along in leaps and bounds! You must be so pleased.

Itwillbebetter - hope the dcs have a little bit more energy. Its quite common to have this kind of reaction to the diet change - plus the supplements - its lots going on at once for them. I think its funny how much we learn about ourselves from our DCs - just like you said about the tiredness thing.. Smile

Daft - Italy sounds amazing and I think your DS deserves every ice cream he can lay his hands on.

Easter Meet Up How does Wednesday 8th suit? Windsor Park for a picnic lunch thing, with DC. It would be really nice to meet some of you and your DCs. So far I think we are Prince, Shoppingbags and hopefully IB. xx

PrinceRogersNelson · 15/03/2013 06:52

Do you mean Wednesday 10th? I can do that day.

Badvoc · 15/03/2013 09:42

Robin just rang Tom to tell him how proud he is :)
Hope you all have a fab meet up....can't wait til summer.

OP posts:
shoppingbagsundereyes · 15/03/2013 11:05

Bum, we have nearly 4 weeks off and Wednesday 10th is the only day I've already made plans for. Can do virtually any other day or go ahead without me and I'll come to the summer one if there aren't any other convenient days.

Ruggles · 15/03/2013 17:46

Whoops, sorry did mean the 10th but we can do either Mon 8th or Tues 9th?

Ruggles · 15/03/2013 17:47

Has anyone else 'lost' this thread lately? I could only find it using the search engine.

PrinceRogersNelson · 15/03/2013 17:57

I can do any day that week.

Ruffles - is the thread not on threads I'm on?

Ruggles · 15/03/2013 18:04

Brilliant - Thank you, I will investigate 'Threads I'm on' I haven't used that yet!

Ineedmorepatience · 15/03/2013 18:21

Hi all, can anyone help the lady on the board who has just posted about visual perception. I couldnt really help much and I think someone was unkind to her on another boardSad

DaftMaul · 15/03/2013 19:27

Ruggles, I always 'mark my spot' when a thread is really long (like ours) and then 'watch' it. That way, if I don't post for a while, I can still find it on 'threads I am watching'.

Badvoc · 15/03/2013 19:37

Done ineed.
Thanks x
