am reading this book at the moment.

I have laughed, cried, shouted, been speechless and gobsmacked and that was just in the introduction.

Some of the attitudes towards disablity and special needs are just jaw dropping. A woman in QLD - state I live in was told in 2000 - after a antenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome for her baby - that 'it would just be a pet'!!Shock She went on to have a son who did not have Down Syndrome.

Some of the prevailing mindsets are just amazing and it made me cry to think what sort of society are we creating and what are we teaching our children.....

very compelling reading.

wow - just finished reading this book and it blew my mind. The courage of some of these women to give birth in the face of such opposition and outright ignorance and prejudice is just amazing.
