Hello, I am a mum who is seeking to make contact with parents who get direct payments for their disabled children - I am wondering what you are allowed to use them for. I have disabled twins and I am looking into different options for support.

thank you

Yes you have to contact social services and ask for a care assessment - but approach social services with caution- do you get DLA for your DD?

Before contacting social services try something like contact a family, they will be able to give more detailed advice and support. Get advice before talking to social services - my experience nearly ended in my children being taken into care.

good luck

What you can spend them on seems to vary between different areas. We use it for a weekly baby sitter when we go out and also the same lady takes my daughter out in the school holidays and we pay for that with dp too. In the past, I have paid for holiday schemes or clubs with it too.
