I'm part of the pilot scheme in my area and its all kicking off in next few weeks. Having met with proffessionals today, I'm not certain they have considered it very well.
They don't know which services will need to be brought in.
They don't know how to work out family budgets.
They don't know who will decide on budgets. And it seems they are basing the budgets on what we receive now rather than what we should get!!
Warning, be ready to fight for what you need and pray your proffessional likes you :(

Doesn't sound promising :(

Do you have someone that you give feedback to or is that for the professsionals only?

StarlightMcKenzie · 16/09/2012 18:20

Ah Lisad, I woukd never have expected anything different!

Give them my condolences won't you. Bet they're all in a pickle trying to figure out whether any of this means their jobs are on the line.

StarlightMcKenzie · 16/09/2012 18:22

Let me know if you ever want me to do a FOI for you btw!

I coukd do one just on that if you like? Asking those very questions.

It's going to be a shambles. We're a pathfinder authority too. Schools could find it very tricky to work out budgets, especially special schools who have so many children with funidng.

devientenigma · 16/09/2012 19:25

Pilot schemes have already been running so there should be some feedback there.

StarlightMcKenzie · 16/09/2012 20:13

I'm not sure there has been much feedback yet tbh.

lisad123 · 16/09/2012 23:08

Yes we will all have someone to feed back too.

My pre-action protocol letter for a judicial review in relation to the SEN (Direct Payments) (Pilot Scheme) Order will be sent this week to our 'pathfinder'.

Interestingly, a little publicity over this has led to renewed contact from the Dept of Ed and the Council for Disabled Children.

I'm not sure why the latter are involving themselves in what is a clear breach of the law.

Is there no one who sticks up for children rather than LAs these days?

StarlightMcKenzie · 16/09/2012 23:49

AE, I have an idea for a JR. May I PM you about it? I've been looking through my stuff and there is some serious stuff, but it would tie me up for years. I think I've found an easier way.

Of course tar - email me direct if you still have my email.
