DLA Renewal without recent reports;etc

Hi all

Recently sent of dd1's renewal.
I'm under fair bit of stress atm, so I think it's affecting my ability to think clearly and logically Smile

I started to panic a bit yesterday, when I was thinking about the decision being made.
The most recent report we have is 2 years old- DD's paed retired (private practice) and we haven't succeeded in getting a new one yet.
The thing is though, she had years of OT/CAMHS stuff and we eventually just stopped the therapies because none of them are on offer continuously, are they?

We were given help, then the relevant professionals would discharge her and say to contact them again if we needed to.
As it happens, I am going to ask for OT help, as I need some advice about her sensory issues.

So I sent her dx reports with the claim and her most recent paed report.
This means that they don't have anyone to contact- we also HE her, so there's no school to ask for reports.
I explained this on the form, but am stressing in case it becomes a problem.

Has anyone else been in the same situation-with no up-to-date information?
TIA.

Hi,
Thanks for replying Smile
Yeah, it's horribly stressful, on top of everything else we have to deal with on a daily basis. I'm so wound up atm, because so much rides on getting the renewal. Yet I still wish I she wasn't eligible IYKWIM. Sad

I get where you are coming from with regards to some reports being too positive to send-I deliberately excluded some from CAMHS, because they focused on dd's strengths (nice to read, not great for DLA!) as well as her areas of difficultly.

Oh well, it's just a waiting game, isn't it?
My own observations and examples were incredibly thorough- I sent an additional 57 pages!!! And I have enclosed a fabulous supporting statement from someone who really knows what they are talking about, so we will just see.

There's no rhyme or reason with DWP though, which is what makes me so stressed Sad

Ive recently renewed my DDs with no additional reports at all, as other than the normal review meetings with her consultant, there has been no other further professional input. The additional support and help DD needs are because of her disability no amount of professional is going to cure that. We had lots of professionals involved when DD was younger but now we are pretty much just left to plod along. They also cannot have contacted school as it i didnt send the form in til after they broke up. It only took 3 weeks for the decision and renewal letter to come back and they have renewed it for 5 years. Hope this helps to put your mind at rest a little.

McFarts (love the name!) you have eased my stress a bit, thanks Smile

DH and I were just saying the same as you- dd had loads of input early on, but there comes a point when you just have to plod along. They can never cure her autism and nobody is going to offer continual therapy.

I remember stressing like this last time, too. I hate it Sad

Perception I strongly suspect that the assessor who picks up my claim won't share your views Grin
