Oh my goodness, what will happen now? (DLA)

I have been worried sick about this all weekend. Sad

I got in on Friday to a letter from the Carers allowance people saying that apparently my son's DLA will stop on Sept. 24th and that if it does my carers allowance will also stop. I think maybe the DLA was due for renewal (which would be our first one) but I haven't heard anything from them, do they not write to you to tell you it is due for renewal? Confused

It was too late to phone them on Friday and so I will ring in the morning, but I am so worried it will stop.

Can anyone explain what is going on? (I am guessing not, but I am tired and upset and thought it worth asking)

Sorry this has happened can see why you are worried.
Yes you would normally get a renewal form quite a while before DLA award expires. Sounds like they slipped up. I would phone on Mon say you didn't get a renewal form and ask for one. Then even if there is a gap you should get DLA and Carers backdated to the day you asked for the form.

I always thought they sent you paperwork when it was due for renewal, but as we're not yet to DS2's renewal date, I'm not sure.

Can't you check your original award letter? It should state when it's up for renewal.

Have you got your original award letter, it will say on there when it's awarded from and to. The dla should have sent you a renewal pack around 4 months before it was due. Sorry this is happening to you, it's very stressful.

Thankyou. I will just have to phone them tomorrow.

I am not sure about the original award letter, we have moved house since then and I think it may be with some paperwork in the loft.

It's reassurring to know that if they stop it they will at least backdate it. Thankyou.
