dystonia what is it?

can anyone tell me what it is. one of dd's friend has just had it and I haven't a clue.

my mum has it
it's a neurological disease but it presents in really varied ways

my mum's presents a lot like parkinsons. Never heard of a young person with it though. it can be really hard to get a diagnosis.

I did go on that site before. I wondered if it could be linked to her cp as some of the stuff it mentions is like cp(I hope that makes sense)

I know of a young woman who was diagnosed with it at about 19. She went into remission for a few years but then had a major relapse which left her in a wheelchair. She now has it in her arms as well. As someone else has said it is muscle spasms and very variable in its effect.
