please could someone define cognitive impairment for me

hello hope everyones doing well with all the school issues . I would like to ask for some help please I had to take dd2 who has autism for a blood test for genetic disorders as I also have a son with hfa on the form it mentioned her clinical conditions are asd and cognitive impairment , when she had her assessment this wasnt mentioned , could anyone please tell me exactly what this means .I googled it and am under the impression it means learning difficulties but I need to know more Thank you all in advance

Hi autumnsmum. Yes, cognitive impairment does generally mean learning difficulties. Cognition is another way of saying 'thinking' or brain function so it sounds like they are saying that your DD has ASD together with perhaps a lower than average IQ? That sounds very blunt, I'm sorry. What do you think? Has she had any tests done by an EP etc or are they just guessing?
