Tiny whinge - transport

Okay, so after everything this is pretty small, but transport called today to confirm arrangements for ds (ASD and age 5) starting school this week. He is going into big school for the first time etc etc. and transport has only just been agreed.

Somehow they thought I'd just be handing over from my doorstep on the first morning of school, in his brand new school uniform, with a new bag, and pe kit for the first time to go in a completely new school entrance to a new classroom with a new teacher, with absolutely no transition etc. Now actually, ds is pretty good with transitions but even without the ASD, he is 5!!!!!

And not only that but when I asked if he was going to have a booster seat, they replied that if I really wanted one they could arrange it.

Sorry, - the trip is escorted. 5 kids and an escort and a driver.

I told them that I would take him on his first day, and when I pick him up will seek out the taxi and introduce him to the escort, driver and other children and he can start with them the following morning.

This was all fine btw, so it is all pretty good, but I was still a little Hmm.

Whoever arranged it probably hasn't the first idea about DCs at all - it's just a logistic pen pushing job for them. It wouldn't have even crossed their mind. They see your DS as case ref; STAR 007, my DS as EVIL 007 (sorry - very James Bond Grin)

You're probably right.

The good news probably is that I was able to ring them up and tell them how I wanted it to start and they agreed instantly. Not used to that at all.

Hi- I know how you feel. When DS started school I took him at first ,then he came home on the bus and eventually did both trips...but actually I think that was for me.He likes the bus(and apart from a small blip)is the happiest child on there !

Good luck for Thursday Smile
