Hi False

We've had a good week. DS is settled back into school and they are looking at his transition needs now. We've begun to tackle food issues too.

DD did the schools version of the Great Scottish Run today with her class. Last year she went but wouldn't take part. Shows her confidence is growing Grin.

I've started writing up my dissertation proper and am feeling more positive about everything. Even my health is looking up.

DH is feeling good too. So all in all everything much more positive this week. Grin. Passes wine around to anyone lurking.

StarlightMcKenzie · 31/08/2012 19:52

Hi all, we got confirmation of transport for Ds this week which will make such a difference. We had to cancel our few days away because we added our pennies and they didn't Sad. DH is going to try and get overtime, which is great that he can but means I'm a single parent and he misses the kids.

But, it's a positive step I guess.

Just what happens when you're forced by postcode lottery to live in an area you can't actually afford to.

LollipopViolet · 31/08/2012 19:54

Not a bad week here - off to Prague next Friday, bit of a nervous flyer and airports give me a kind of, can't explain it well, but it's like, there's load of stuff going on and at times I just want 2 seconds to myself! Sensory overload I think, not helped by nerves about flying!

Off to a wedding tomorrow, my first Grin. Very excited, not happy though as the dress I'm wearing means I've got to wear tights.

I HATE wearing tights. I hate the way they feel on my legs. Can just about suffer 40 whatsit ones for a day but reeeeeeaaally would prefer not to wear anything close fitting on my legs (leggings I can just about do if they feel right).

FalseStartered · 31/08/2012 19:59

i've finally posted a DLA application form for DD - our future holiday plans now lie with the DWP Sad

Lollipop, tights! Grin Hope they don't spoil your day.

Great news on the transport, Star! How's it going to work?

Glad you had a good week, Creatovator.

FalseStartered, I'm getting lost with my spreadsheet, is that your Olympic/Paralympic name, UnChartered?

Ok here. Boys have had a quiet week with me, DS2 has another chesty cold and is on steroids and inhaler, but not too bad. DS1 is recovering from an ingrown tonail partial removal op. (yuk) They have all had back to school haircuts and no longer look like little surfing dudes. Sad

DS3 is going into Y6 and I've been forced to start a little 11+ practice. I want him to go to the nice comp with the lovely SEN dept that his 2 brothers go to, but no siblings admissions criteria and we are way out of catchment. The closest secondary isn't great, but the grammar schools are in the next town and single sex. Sad It's never easy.

Anyway, Doctor Who tomorrow!

FalseStartered · 31/08/2012 20:07

yes, i'm keeping my olympic/paralympic themed name until next saturday Grin

Oh good! Crossed with you, actually. I've decided their dad can take them on an expensive holiday this year. I may try some camping next summer, and have booked and paid for CP for a weekend while I still had access to the joint account. Grin

moosemama · 31/08/2012 20:39

Evening all

FalseStartered, I'll keep everything crossed for your DLA application.

Creatovator - lovely to hear things are going so well for you. So pleased your health is looking up, it makes such a difference to every area of your life doesn't it.

Starlight, good news about the transport, but sorry about the money situation. We're in a similar position and have been wracking our brains trying to think of something I could do from home part time to bring in a little extra.

My boys are having their surf dude hairstyles curtailed tomorrow afternoon Ellen. Sad We are planning to gradually go shorter and shorter with ds1's this year so the transition to secondary school short-hair only rules isn't such a big shock to his system this time next year. I am very sad about it though, he's always had lovely long wavy/surfy hair. Sad

But, we have finally got a date for having our drive block paved. It's being done the week after next when ds1 is on his week-long outward bound trip . I've only been waiting for it to be done since I was pregnant with dd (who will be 4 in January). I am stupidly excited about it, especially after having to build stepping stones to get across the floods this summer and having a constant stream of mud walked into the house. Also looking forwards to no longer being the house that let's the street down, iykwim.

Lollipop, enjoy your wedding - I hate wearing tights as well, that's why I rarely wear dresses myself. Hope you have a fantastic time in Prague too - everyone I know who's been there is in love with the place. Smile

Horrible week here, still can't walk on my foot, then developed gastritis from the high dose ibuprofen I was given to treat the swelling, which triggered a gallbladder attack. Haven't eaten anything but porridge made with water all week and am still stuck on the sofa with my foot in the air. Then to top all that off, I got a humdinging migraine last night, which was the herald to a very painful totm which decided to arrive several days early today. HARRUMPH!

Oh - and I somehow managed to miss the first episode of Dallas! Grin

Badvoc · 31/08/2012 20:57

Moose...you poor thing!
Ok week here...dc have had 2 days at school and it's gone ok.
I am shattered...don't know if it's end of summer hols exhaustion or just plain knackeredness!
Have so much to do...started decorating the hall, stairs and landing last week...why??? Why??? Why???
On the plus side I have sorted the conservatory out today...2 bin bags full of broken toys/bits of games.
Am so tired...

Haha, not letting the tights thing ruin my day - there will be drinks, dancing and good company, that'll do the trick :)

Just wish my friends at the local airfield could take me to Prague in one of their little planes - although I don't think my mum would approve! Grin

Ineedaflippinmedal · 31/08/2012 21:14

The final lap towards the end of the hols for us, finishing with a trip to the paralympics in Tuesday.

We are all excited but I am abit snowed under with trying to get Dd2 ready to go away to resi college. I cant believe how much stuff she has neededShock

Dd3 is feeling pushed out because in her words "Its all about Dd2 at the moment"

I am knackered but have loved being off work and having the Dd's around over the summer.

I agree about the tights lollipop, I hate them tooGrin

starfish71 · 31/08/2012 21:27

Hello all, been a busy week and has had a few high points!

Got DS1 to the dentist, really proud of him as he has very bad anexity and has real difficulty leaving the house. And to top it he didn't need any work done just a clean, made my day we actually got there.

DS2 behaved really well in town today getting hair cut and feet measured! Bliss. :)

My mum hasn't been very well, waiting for a MRI so been very worried about her so the fact have had a mainly good week with the boys has brought a smile to my face.

Hope everyone has a good weekend xx

ouryve · 31/08/2012 21:40

I'm celebrating friday nght with a cup of sleepytime tea.

I've been sleeping like crap, have horrible burning knees and swollen elbows and had a nice dose of gutrot, yesterday, just to make it feel so much better.

DS1 has been bad tempered and shouty and has been biting DS2 and pulling his hair.

DS2 has been pounding the crap out of me (unfortunate turn of phrase, given the state I was in yesterday) and alternating that with occasional little bursts of actual words. He's bored but I can't take him anywhere far because he's taken to pulling and pushing me and trying to run into the road (he's in a harness) if he disapproves of the route I take or If i steer him away fro a gate he wants to open. That's so much fun with dodgy joints.

Yesterday was probably the nadir of this week. I NEEDED a shower (sure I don't need to explain why it couldn;t wait until the evening) so got the boys occupied, gave them a biccie each and dived in - got soaped up really quickly, to hear a scuffle and a crash. I yelled some threats through the door and quickly rinsed myself off, ran through the lounge to go upstairs to get dressed and almost stepped in some broken glass. It seems that the glass in our livingroom doors isn't safety glass Angry. So I bundled DS2 into the bedroom, left DS1 on the computer out of the way (even though he was the culprit) and spent the rest of the morning cleaning up glass, inspecting feet and all the shoes that DS2 had lined up near the door and removing the door and chucking it into the front yard.

Just to even things up, DS2 yanked the gate to the kitchen back in the afternoon and pulled it out of the door fram so it wouldn't close properly any more - so i had both boys mithering me about that for the rest of the day, until DH could take it apart and bodge a fix for it.

My head would love something stronger than sleepytime tea, but my tummy says no.

I'd say roll on Wednesday, but the kids going back to school will only bring its own grief.

LollipopViolet · 31/08/2012 22:16

I also got a generic rejection email for a job I really wanted too :(

Hi all, short msg this week cos my hands hurt following my carpel tunnel release op.

Its back to school next Tuesday for us. Dd looking forward to y2 but getting her up in the morning and wearing actual clothes is going to be fun......

And dh starts a 4 week training course on Monday and will have to live away during the week. I was rather hoping my right hand would be better by the time he left Sad getting the tops off bottles is still beyond me... As is opening the living room door!

StarlightMcKenzie · 31/08/2012 22:54

That's very noble of you Justa. Can I be your pimp?

signandsmile · 01/09/2012 11:56

hi all, hugs and Brew and Wine for all the crappy weeks, Sad.

We have been back to the seaside, found a cheap (ish) few days and off we went, took my dsis too, (who ds adores), so throughout the day we had little joyful outbursts of 'Auntie Cathy is here!!!!! Eeeeeeeee!' whenever he remembered she was around... Grin.

He managed really well, (with a few 'quirks') and actually played with a random child in the pool without any 'scaffolding' from me, Grin

Felling nrevous about school on MOnday, (eek! Hmm) but am telling self we cross that bridge when it comes.... Hmm.
