How up-to-date do reports have to be

I'm applying for a Statement for DD 11. I am just wondering IF the LEA agree to assess, how recent do the reports have to be. I have various reports between April to date, which confirm/support the need for a Statement.

I have the Parental report, which is 10 page long. The Parental summary of difficulties. I have copies of the reports, which. I have copies of school levels, which show very little progression. I have a copy of school work and reading diary too.

Do I put that I believe she needs 1-1 or possible special school or just re-affirm how much her difficulties are affecting her ability to access the curriculum.

Are there any 'key words' that would be helpful to use.

I'm nervous as anything but know DD desperately needs this.

It was all rather long ago for me, but the reports sound fine. If they want more up to date ones from the school or EP they will ask them directly. Do you think your DD needs SS? It can be quite hard to get into SS unless needs are severe or you happen to have a local one that meets your DD's needs really well and then you need to show why MS wouldn't be possible. All to do with money, of course, even though it should be on need.

Others will be along with better advice, I'm sure. Smile

Thank you Ellen, Yes, she certainly needs that amount of help at MS school or, like you say, a SS that can meet her needs perfectly that would take her (and thats coming from DH, which says something).

Thanks for responding :)

I was told that the current buzz words are " what barriers remain to her education" despite any help currently being received.

You need to word things so that you show what has been tried and if it helped but you need more of it or that now since it didn't help you need xyz instead.
Not detailed amounts of time necessarily but what sort of help to "overcome the barriers"
