My two year old daughter has developmental delay. We've bought her an iPad and we're looking for apps -she's very keen on playing with it. Speech therapy won't help -doesn't think iPad appropriate at this age, but not offering an alternative. I'm interested in proloquo2go. Has anyone used it? Any ideas where I could trial it? Alternatives?

Would appreciate advice. I have a frustrated child with lots to say.

Hi, my daughter has the app on her iPad!! She used a lot of it at the start but since her language has improved she doesn't use it much anymore! What she liked about this that she was able to speak full sentences by using it rather than words etc. There are alternatives out there but not sure how good they are, hope someone else can help you there! Every apple shop should have this app on one of their iPads instore to trial out, we did this at our local.

Dd has it on her iPad and it is very good. You really need to thin it down and kind of create a simple home page initially. We got ours through a communication aid specialist who set it all up for dd and showed us how to use it. Salt was initially a bit reluctant about whether dd would be able to use it but she proved her wrong quite quickly. Dd also loves playing with the other per school apps.

We had it, but ds1 refused to use it and I found it quite time consuming to set up.

I have a video of him using it on my blog (link in profile then click on the LAMP heading).

Despite not getting on withh Proloquo2go he has flown with LAMP (which isn't the sort of thing you buy yourself unless you are loaded).

If you are near an ACE centre (Oxford or Manchester) it might be worth talking to them as they will do an assessment of both low and hi tech devices/systems to see what is likely to be best, including proloquo2go. It's so unhelpful when SALTS just don't give advice. It probably means they don't have the time to work with her Angry. I was told my son wasn't capable of anything years ago when a SaLT refused to work with him, he has just been sat next to me using his communication aid to talk about a respite worker who has a sat nav in her car Grin (that wasn't possible for him to communicate prior to the talker and I'm sure there were some who wouldn't have believed he was capable of it).

Thanks so much for your ideas. When madam gives me a moment will get round to exploring them. I feel we're making progress.

Ds has started using it at school and we have it on his ipad, although he is more reluctant lazy to use it at home. We have done as Cansu said and made a 'ds favourites' file to start him off as there is so much on there it can be confusing.
