We have just ordered a iPad for dd (using her DLA to continue from another thread). She is 4.6 and nonverbal, we are waiting for autism dx.
I wondered what apps you have found useful for speech development or any really good apps for non verbal kids?

Speech buttons
ABA flash cards
Autism apps have a list of apps as well.

I had downloaded quite a few but they seem to have gone missing, I will check on the laptop and post again tomorrow.

Look in my eyes-good for eye contact
Stories2learn-social stories DIY
Verbs with milo
Grid player-similar to PECS
Lego duplo-fun!
Monster chorus-music

Hope this helps.

Going to bump this as I'm looking for inspiration!

So far can only find US English ones to help speech development. Anybody know of any UK ones? Though as DH said, "if it's going to help her speak I really dont give a f**k if she sounds American!!!"

We have had a i-pad for a few months (from family fund), the best app dd2 has is 'grid player', its a free communication (PEC'S type) app. She also likes:

cakepop party (a bit of fun)
Tiny zoo
Talking Gina
Talking Tom
Dust buster (piano app)
Duplo games
Sentance builder
Calm counter (good for meltdowns)
kids iq
