I have finally told Dd3 about her Dx and now need to get some books for her.

I know I should have done it the other way around but things have kind to a head over the last couple of weeks and yesterday she asked me a direct question which I had to answer.

I have looked on amazon but have no idea what to buy. She likes picture books and is a good reader but has limited understanding of emotions so I dont want it to be to detailed.

Help please!!

I looked at the blue bottle one but was a bit concerned about it being a bit too boyish.

Although having said that her 2 favourite books atm are Harry Potters and Charlie and the chocolate factory! Maybe we will give it a go.

Thanks, any more would be greatSmile

Ds liked all of those . His nt sister loves the All cats have aspergers.
Another fave was ' The London Eye mystery ' by Siobhan Dowd.

Other non fiction one ds read and found useful:

Can I tell you about Aspergers Syndrome? By Jude Welton

'What is Asperger syndrome, and how will it affect me?'....Produced by the NAS

Airport awareness ( travel advice for children on the Autistic spectrum)... That one was free... Produced by Manchester Airport... Just phoned up for a copy

And lastly ' freaks , geeks and Asperger Syndrome' ... Luke Jackson. I hate the title ... But ds has read it a lot so I'm assuming he identified with it well.

Ooh just part remembered another ! )
'Aspergers syndrome, the universe and everything' by Kenneth Hall.. Ds just said that one is the best. Smile

Leonie I thought i might make one with her about her specific issues and things she is good at.

I have got Freaks, geeks and aspergers so might read some with her to see if she understands it.

Will have a look at Aspergers, the universe and everything. It sounds abit like the hitch hikers guides to the galaxy sequel which i loved.

Thanks again if anyone thinks of any more let me knowSmile
